To get us thinking about motion, speed, acceleration, and gravity we took a roller coaster ride!
We then studied the history of roller coasters, read books about roller coasters, and conducted some experiments to change the speed and direction of a moving object.
To end our unit, we participated in the Coaster Challenge. We had the BEST time constructing roller coasters in our classroom! The challenge was to build a roller coaster out of pool noodles and duct tape that would allow a marble to travel through a loop. Each group was successful...one group even had two working loops!
