{The World of Fairy Tales}

The Twosies were greeted by a drawbridge entrance into our classroom and a greeting from Rapunzel at the beginning of our Fairy Tale Unit!

Queen Hilley also left her throne for the introductory lesson:

We spent the week learning about the history of fairy tales, the elements of a fairy tale, and of course read TONS of fairy tales. We really enjoyed reading the traditional versions of fairy tales and comparing them with a modern or fractured version!

Here are some of our favorites...

The Twosies also tried their hand at writing their own fairy tale!

We then conducted research on Knights, Castles, Dragons, and Royalty! Each group had to complete a research guide, exploring the definition, topic, characteristics, parts, and fun facts of their topic. They then created a poster to present their learning to the class. I am so proud of their hard work and final products!

 We ended our unit by completing our very first STEM Project! It was so. much. fun.
Our challenge was based on the idea that the Giant caught onto Jack's tricks and decided to wrap barbed wire around the beanstalk, leaving Jack trapped up in the clouds! Each group had to design, construct, and test a parachute that would get Jack safely to the ground. Their goal was to keep their parachute in the air the longest.

And the winners were...(drumroll, please)...

Mac and Taylor with a time of 2.36 seconds
